Frequently Asked Questions

Is naturopathic medicine covered by OHIP?

Although it is not covered by OHIP at this time, naturopathic services may be covered by extended healthcare plans. Please check with your insurance provider today. Unfortunately we don't take insurance, so all payments will be received upfront and a receipt will be given so that you can submit it to receive your reimbursement from your insurance provider. Naturopathic medical care can be included on your income tax deductions as an eligible medical expense. Please see this link for more information.

What to expect in your visits?

Your first visit will be a lengthy visit (1.5-2 hours) where Dr. Dyment will obtain a thorough medical history, similar to what you would do with your medical doctor. This visit will include conversation about your goals of treatment as well. Potential approaches will be discussed and any necessary lab work will be recommended. Some simple recommendations may be given at the end of the first visit, but a detailed treatment plan will come after labs have come in, physical exams have been performed and there has been time to thoughtfully consider your health concerns.

At the second visit Dr. Dyment will discuss a review of the findings that could be contributing to your health concerns, ask any further questions, and a detailed treatment plan will be explained. This visit is usually 1 hour in length. A follow-up visit, to evaluate progress and ensure that you are on the right track will occur 4-6 weeks later and any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan will be discussed. Typical follow-ups are scheduled for 30 minutes.

If your second visit is for homeopathy, a detailed homeopathic case will be taken in order to determine the best remedy for you and your individual case. Dr. Dyment will then study your case and you can pick up your remedy at your third visit for which there is no charge.

The frequency of your visits to Dr. Dyment will depend on the complexity of your health concerns. Some people will come only a few times a year and others come monthly.

Is lab work recommended by ND's covered by OHIP?

Although it seems unfair, lab work is not covered by OHIP, not even basic labs. Sometimes your ND will refer you back to your MD to have lab work done. You have a right to all your medical records though, so if you've had recent blood work done, bring copies to your visit with Dr. Dyment. Always, always, always, ask for copies of your labs from your doctor. They are your records!

Yes! High end health food stores may carry the products Dr. Dyment recommends. However, she does have supplements that she recommends on hand at the clinic for easy, one stop shopping and you can also order them on her online store.
